Brian Bigley comes from musical family on the west side of Cleveland. Studying with Achill Island piper Michael Kilbane from the age of eight, Brian's sensitivity to the art of uilleann piping has developed into a high level of understanding.
His interest in maintaining the best sound possible led Brian to study the art of pipe-making with Seth Gallagher in upstate New York. He is currently making chanters in the style of the late Dave Williams and is an accomplished reedmaker.
Brian is also a world-class Irish step dancer, having competed at the World Championships in Glasgow and Killarney. He has toured extensively throughout North America and Europe as a pipe, flute, and whistle player, as well as a dancer with "The Magic of Ireland" and "Tomaseen Foley's A Celtic Christmas" (tomaseenfoley.com) He was a guest artist with the Contemporary Youth Orchestra (cyorcherstra.org) in Cleveland where they performed "Symphonic Led Zeppelin" at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame(2002) and the Masonic Auditorium(2007). He has also had the priveledge of performing at Carnegie Hall in New York with the Cheiftans. The fall of 2007 included a tour with Orange County Irish rock band "The Fenians" as well as appearing at the Milwaukee Irish Fest with the Trinity Irish Dancers.
Competitive accolades include taking first prize at the Midwest Regional Fleadh Cheoil 2007.
Spring 2008 brings gigs with Tom and around New York City where Brian now resides. A concentration on pipe making is under way as well as plans for solo performances.
