Sam Caldarera
Sam got his first Native American flute Flute in 1992. As a teenager Sam had played jazz trumpet and in college took up the classical guitar. “One of the attractions to the flute was that I could improvise, play what I felt and create my own songs. I got together with my friend, Gene Fritts who plays guitar, and we made our first CD in 1995, calling our group Anhinga. This CD, “Sacred Sounds of the Southwest”, was a dream come true for me.” A few years later Anhinga’s second CD, "Turquoise Visions “, came out (2001). Anhinga has sold over 50,000 CDs and it is thrilling knowing that 30% of those have been international sales. With “Morning”, fans can enjoy Sam’s ongoing musical journey, with the inclusion of the Didgeridoo.

Gene Fritts
Gene Fritts has been playing guitar since the age of 15 and has taken an intricate journey through its possibilities. Starting with Rock and Roll (winning the Big Music America Contest in Houston, Texas, in 1981), Gene has played everything from Folk (playing at the Kerrville Folk Festival) to Salsa, Blues to Jazz… all with ease and skill.

Caren Gertner Fritts
Caren Gertner Fritts adds her natural percussion to Anhinga with “the fun stuff”, as Caren puts it. With Native American rattles and drum, rain stick, chimes, and an assortment of instruments, she seamlessly complements the Flute and Guitar.
