Who Painted the Moon

Brigid Kate Mc Avey Gore is second generation Irish and Scot. The first songs she ever performed were from a book of Irish melodies her paternal grandfather gifted to her grandmother at the turn of the LAST century, 1904. Brigid’s father Donald was stationed with the US Army Air Corps in Belfast in 1943. While there he had a song published by Boosey Music Publishing House. Brigid sings in the sean-nos or “old style” her melodic voice carries the emotion of the subject matter.
Sean-nos,or without accompaniment, singing reflects the lives of the people who wrote the songs. Usually the songs deal with life, love and SCANDAL typically found in small rural communities. Brigid discovered her talent for singing purely by accident, she has no musical training just the natural gift of her angelic voice. Brigid grew up as the youngest of a family of twelve children, the daughter of a Baker. They always had a piano in the house and her mother sang as she worked. Mom’s favorite, Greensleeves is a staple for Brigid. She performs at many military functions and Celtic events. Brigid makes her home in Connecticut with husband Richard and Hercules her boxer mascot.
Brigid donates the proceeds of her Cd sales to the “Marines Helping Wounded Marines” charity. This program provides goods and services to injured Marines recuperating at Walter Reed and Bethesda Hospitals. You can locate more information at their web site at www.marineshelpingmarines.org
